2020 Creative Vision
A creative path to release and renewal as we welcome the new year.
Step One: Release
“We must learn to let go, to give up, to make room for the things we have prayed for and desired.” Charles Fillmore, Unity Co-Founder
Many Unity churches hold a Burning Bowl service at or near the New Year. This ceremony is meant to provide a contemplative time to select ideas, thoughts, and habits that no longer serve one’s highest good. Through meditation, these thoughts are revealed. Then they are written on paper and burned as a symbol of release. This ceremony creates space in consciousness to be filled with God thoughts, thoughts born from a higher consciousness.
As we prepare to welcome in the year 2020, I invite you to create your own release ceremony. This can be done with fire as in the burning bowl ceremony, or you may create your own unique experience. Some possible ways of approaching it with artistic materials could be to write what you wish to release on paper and then tear it up; use it in a collage; or paint over it turning into something new.
Take a moment to reflect on the past year. Think of the joys, the sorrows, the plans that were made and the unexpected surprises you were met with. Consider your activities at work, at home; consider relationships with others, with yourself, and with God. Offer love, gratitude and forgiveness for what was. Now it is time to say, so long and farewell to 2019 and to welcome in 2020 with clear vision and receptive hearts.
Center yourself with slow and even breaths. Set a clear intention for your inner wisdom to reveal to you that which is ready to be released. It might be a fear, a habit, a resentment, or a limiting belief about yourself. Close your eyes and sit in silent contemplation allowing an idea to bubble forth to awareness. When you are ready, open your eyes and write your release intention on paper. Then free yourself using your chosen method of symbolic release.
Step Two: Repeat
Repeat the following affirmation.
“I now release what I no longer desire, and I make room for the desires of my heart. I forgive everything and everybody of the past or of the present who needs and desires forgiveness. I loose you and let you go. I now allow divine order to do it’s work for the highest good for all.”
Step Three: Renew
Step into the New Year freed from that which has held you in bondage to false limitations. Affirm that this New Year you are open and receptive to the spirit of God within you.
What are your desires and prayers for the New Year? Remember, all things are possible with God.
Visualize your desires and prayers in your mind, feel them as complete in your heart. Imagine living your life on purpose, in alignment with your divine calling. You may wish to take this a step further and create a visual representation of your dreams with a Vision Board collage process.
Where ever your creative journey leads you, I wish you love and blessings. Happy New Year!
